The Association of British Certification Bodies (ABCB), an IAF Association Member, is celebrating its 40th year. ABCB was founded in 1984 in response to a United Kingdom (UK) Government request that certification bodies (CBs) should work together to provide collective input to the then newly established National Accreditation Council for CBs (NACCB). ABCB continues to be recognised by the UK Government, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), and a wide range of organisations as the lead UK trade association for nationally accredited third-party CBs.

ABCB’s celebration culminates with a luncheon in June at the House of Commons in London. ABCB members and special guests will be attending, including representatives from IAF, UKAS and the UK National Standards Body BSI.
Wayne Terry, Chief Executive of ABCB, said ‘we are extremely proud to have reached this incredible milestone whilst being a member of IAF, and dedicated to continue to contribute to the work of IAF, creating consistency and consensus in the application of standards around the globe.’
‘ABCB’s dedication and contribution to the work of IAF throughout the years have been invaluable,’ said Emanuele Riva, IAF Chair. ‘We extend our heartfelt gratitude to ABCB for their unwavering support and commitment in promoting consistency and consensus in the application of standards worldwide. Congratulations to ABCB on their remarkable 40-year milestone!’
ABCB is proud to actively promote accredited certification and continue its work into the next 40 years, working with the UK Government, trading standards, purchasers and specifiers, UKAS, IAF and the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) as well as other stakeholders to promote third-party certification. 40 years, a proud moment for ABCB and its members!
