The IAF MLA continues to grow

The membership, coverage and scope of the IAF MLA continues to expand. MOLDAC (Republic of Moldova) and LA (Lithuania) were welcomed as new signatories during the IAF-ILAC meetings in Frankfurt. Two regions, IAAC (Americas) and APAC (Asia Pacific) extended their scopes, and 12 Accreditation Bodies expanded their scope of recognition. The General Assembly also approved to extend the IAF MLA to include ISO/IEC 17029 (Verification and Validation), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management Systems). ISO/IEC 17029 is a new Conformity Assessment standard that can be used for accreditation of Validation & Verification Bodies (this expands the scope of ISO 14065 which only covers the accreditation of GHG Verification Bodies). Additionally, in November 2019, SADCAS (the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service) became a new IAF MLA Signatory.

At the operational level, transitional arrangements were agreed for ISO 22301 Societal security – Business continuity management systems, ISO 14064-3 Greenhouse gases — Part 3: Specification with guidance for the verification and validation of greenhouse gas statements, and ISO 14065 – Greenhouse gases — Requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition.
